First Aid Course
On 11th October, members of our karate club came together not just to train in martial arts—but to learn how to save lives.
Led by Sensei Steve Pearce, we hosted a First Aid Course based on the internationally recognized PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) program https://www.emergencyfirstresponse.com/.
This training focused on two essential areas of care: Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid), including the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
What We Covered
Primary Care (CPR)
This section taught participants how to respond to life-threatening emergencies. Key skills included:
- Scene assessment and safety
- CPR for adults, children, and infants
- Use of barrier devices to reduce infection risk
- AED operation and troubleshooting
- Serious bleeding management
- Shock and spinal injury care
Secondary Care (First Aid)
This part focused on injuries and illnesses that aren’t immediately life-threatening but still require attention:
- Injury assessment
- Bandaging and splinting
- Illness evaluation
- Basic first aid for burns, fractures, and allergic reactions
Participants also learned how to document incidents and communicate effectively with emergency services.
Congratulations to All Attendees!
We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part. Your commitment to learning these vital skills means our club is not only stronger in martial arts—but also safer and more prepared in emergencies.
Whether you’re on the mat or out in the community, your training could make the difference in saving a life.
Well done, team!
